Jedi knight Odan-Urr is called
upon by Jedi Master Ooroo to assist the Empress Teta in uniting
the final planet of the Koros system, Kirrek. Upon arriving on
Cinnagar he meets fellow Jedi Memit Nadill and informs him of the
art of Jedi Battle Meditation - by using the force you can place
courage into the minds of your allies and fear into your enemies.
The two arrive on Kirrek where pirates have taken Teta's soldiers
hostage, slaughtering many. Odan-Urr and Nadill use the force to
implement this Battle Meditation and are successful, the pirates
retreat in fear but not before a couple of them strike out in
desperation and destroy an incoming supply ship. On board Hok and
Timar Daragon are killed.
Their two children, Gav and Jori Daragon, are informed by Aarrba
the Hutt about the unfortunate accident on Kirrek. The two vow to
make their parents proud and set out to explore the galaxy.
Gav and Jori Daragon, aboard their "Starbreaker 12",
exit the orbit of the planet Cinnagar to once again explore the
galaxy and hopefully discover a new hyperspace route for
travellers. But once again they have no success and worse yet
they damage their ship in their latest attempt to find fortune
and fame.
Landing back on Cinnagar they approach Aarrba the Hutt about
getting their ship repaired for credit. This time, however,
Aarrba says they cannot get their ship back until repairs are
paid in full. Gav has one last attempt to turn Aarrba around on
the subject by showing him that their last route was certified by
the Navigators Guild and the bonuses will be coming in any day.
Ssk Kahorr, a merchant lord, is sending a drone ship to Goluud
Minor through the new route Gav and Jori discovered, aware of the
risk. His ship however is destroyed when it arrives at the
destination and is caught in the gravitational pull of Primus
Goluud, a red supergiant sun. Ssk Kahorrr is furious at this and
sends his employee, Gorrm, to find out who is responsible for the
approval of the Goluud Corridor route and to kill them.
As Jori wanders through a Public Plaza on Cinnagar depressed
about her current situation, the Empress Teta and her guards
enter the city offering hope and joy with the unification of the
seven worlds. As jedi Odan-Urr makes a speech, Jori regrets not
learning the powers of the force, for which her and Gav had
demonstrated they were high potentials in learning to become
jedi.
In Aarrba's repair shop, Gav is still questioning Aarrba in
regards to the "Starbreaker 12" for which Aarrba gives
the same reply "as soon as you have the money". Gav
tells the Hutt that he was just informed by Shodon Ko (a worker
at the Navigator's Guild) that a merchant is already using the
route he and Jori discovered and that their money should be in
soon. As Gav leaves he is confronted by a gang of Ssk Kahoor's
who inform him that Shodon Ko is dead and that he and his sister
may be next due to their no-good route through Goluud.
Word gets back to Ssk Kahoor about his henchmen locating Gav and
Jori and he orders assassins to kill them. As Gav and Jori
prepare to sleep in their tent for the night, they are attacked
by these assassins and are about to meet their ends when suddenly
Jedi Odan-Urr and Memit Nadill intervene and save the day.
Fearing for their lives, Gav and Jori decide to leave Cinnegar
for good and stealing their ship they head off into the unknown
hoping that this hyperspace jump will bring them some better
luck.
On a planet unmarked on any Old Republic map, Korriban is a
planet of Sith evil which resides on the far side of the galaxy.
Here a funeral is taking place for the former dark lord, Marka
Ragnos. Ludo Kressh, who hopes to be his successor, leads this
procession following the traditional rituals to the strictest
detail.
Meanwhile Gav and Jori Daragon pray that their current hyperspace
jump will offer some hope. Going further than any recorded vessel
from the republic has ever gone, the "Starbreaker 12"
comes out of hyperspace in an unmapped region of the galaxy.
As the funeral procession continues, Sith lord Naga Sadow arrives
late sparking off rivalry between he and Kressh. Sadow claims
"it is time for a new dark lord of the sith, by rights it
should be me". Sadow feels the ancient empire needs to grow,
that they need to conquer new worlds and expand their tyranny.
Kressh, on the other hand, wishes to keep with tradition and not
risk such changes. As Jori and Gav enter the orbit of Korriban,
Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow begin a duel for the right to rule -
the winner will become the dark lord of the Sith, the loser must
die - but as their battle continues they are interupted by the
spirit of Marka Ragnos.
Ragnos tells them of the ancient times, that their ancestors were
once mighty jedi of the republic, brothers in the force until the
great schism between the dark side and the light turned jedi
against jedi. "Our ancestors were defeated, driven off and
cast out but we turned our exile into victory, here on the far
side of the galaxy.... In these unblemished worlds we found the
Sith people treated us as gods! After many centuries some of us
have interbred with the Sith .... while others still bear true
jedi blood." Ragnos warns them that changes are coming and
they must join forces to maintain the Sith Empire or all will be
lost.
On Koros, in the palace of Empress Teta, jedi Odan-Urr awakes
from nightmares and hurries to the throne of Teta who is
currently speaking to Aarrba the Hutt regarding the treachery of
Gav and Jori Daragon. After Empress Teta promises Aarrba that
word will not get out that the hutt extended credit and that the
Daragons will be punished, Odan-Urr tells of his dream and warns
that even though the evil jedi were banished centuries ago, they
are not forgotten. Teta acknowledges this and claims that they
will not be unprepared.
Elsewhere, on Korriban the spirit of Ragnos has disappeared
leaving Kressh and Sadow at a standstill. Their debates continue
but are quickly interupted by the arrival of the
"Starbreaker 12". Gav and Jori see the gold and jewels
and become excited at the fortunes they could make with
intergalactic trading but when they land and express their
greetings they are immediately taken captive while Kressh and
Sadow argue the new arrival's fates.
On the planet Ziost, central world to the Sith lords, an assembly
of dark lord contenders debate what to do with the new arrivals,
Gav and Jori Daragon. Ludo Kressh argues that their tale of being
peaceful visitors looking to trade is false, that they are
republician spies and should be executed immediately. Naga Sadow
and Ancient Simus disagree with this claiming it is an
opportunity to expand their empire.
Later, in the prisoner level below the fortress of Ziost, Gav and
Jori Daragon are discussing their situation when Simus is
presented to them and informs the two travellers that their fate
has been decided by the council and they are soon to be executed.
Gav and Jori comfort each other and regret past mistakes as they
come to terms with death.
Meanwhile, in the holding bay where the "Starbreaker
12" is impounded, Naga Sadow's soldiers search the ship and
take several weapons. Sadow overlooks this (via holographic
transmission) from his private stronghold on the dark side of the
moon, Khar Shian and plans his attack on Ziost. He is determined
to make it look like Ziost is under attack from an outside enemy
and hence unite the Sith to oppose this force.
Using the traveller's weapons, Sadow and his men break into the
prisoner level and rescue Gav and Jori Daragon, killing anyone
who gets in their way, including Simus. Sadow then leaves the
foreign weapons at the scene with the hope that the other Sith
lords will come up with the conclusions he is expecting.
Sadow accompanies his new hostages to Khar Shian and then returns
back to Ziost where the council has assumed they are under attack
from the Republic. Sadow is shown the foreign weapons and told of
the sad demise of Simus (Sadow's mentor and friend). After a
fitting compassionate scene regarding his mentor (Sadow could be
up for an Academy Award here) Sadow convinces the council to go
to war and elect him as the new Dark Lord. Kressh however, is
furious and vows to depart the council and take his own followers
with him. Sadow, not at all worried about Kressh's departure,
begins to plan his attack on the Republic.
On Ziost, Naga Sadow is receiving the badge of power as he is
inaugurated, the new Dark Lord of the Sith. While on Coruscant,
Empress Teta arrives to inform the senate of Odan-Urr's
premonition - that a great danger from the past has resurfaced,
the lords of the Sith Empire. The senate, which also consists of
jedi, does not give Teta's warning much creedence though. Despite
this, Teta is still prepared to summon her own forces in case of
an attack.
Meanwhile, across the galaxy on a moon called Khar Shian, Gav
Daragon, separated from his sister, waits in a prison cell, bored
and wanting desperately to go home. Sadow has been training him
in the Sith ways and appears via a hologram to inform Gav that he
must master the sith magic he be taught before he can see his
sister and return home safely.
While Sadow sits at his throne he receives a message that Ludo
Kressh is guarding the "Starbreaker 12". Sadow
immediately sends an army to "flush out this weakness"
in his empire while he personally travels to his decoy fortress
on Khar Delba where Jori Daragon awaits in her cell worried about
her brother and the point in time when they can go home. Sadow
informs her that he has separated them so that in case one of his
fortesses is attacked he still has one survivor. He also informs
her that their ship will soon be in their hands again.
At the Impound hangar on Zoist where the "Starbreaker
12" rests, Ludo Kressh's soldiers come under attack, as they
fall they recognise the insignia of Naga Sadow but as Sadow
orders: there are to be no witnesses and no evidence except
evidence they shall plant deliberately. Ludo Kressh, hears the
alarms and discovers the news of his men. He ventures down to the
hangar just as the "Starbreaker 12" blasts off. As
Kressh's guards search the wreckage they come across Naga Sadow's
mask leaving Kressh to believe that "maybe it wasn't an
attack from the republic at all."
Kressh returns to his personal chambers, on the planet Rhelg,
where he calls upon Horak-Mul and Dor Gal-Ram. He informs these
two that he believes Sadow has staged both of the so-called
Republic attacks and asks them to gather their forces so together
they can stop Sadow once and for all.
Back on Khar Delba, Sadow once again visits Jori and gives her a
holographic message from her brother. Delighted to see Gav is
okay, she thanks Sadow who informs her of more good news and
leads her to the "Starbreaker 12." As this is
happening, Ludo Kressh's warships attack the fortress with strict
instuctions - "we're not interested in Sadow's
surrender", Jori yells out to Naga Sadow to take cover while
he bemuses himself - "Exactly as I have planned".
As Ludo Kressh attacks Naga Sadow's fortress, Sadow urges Jori
Daragon to escape in the "Starbreaker 12". She
inadvertently agrees while Sadow congratulates himself that all
his plans are coming into fruition
Meanwhile on the moon Khar Shian, Gav Daragon witnesses a large
fleet departing from the moon's surface and attempts to find out
what's going on without much luck. Elsewhere, his sister, Jori,
flies the "Starbreaker 12" off the surface of Khar
Delba and without too much difficulty gets past Kressh's ships
and zooms into hyperspace.
After Sadow watches Jori's flight to safety, he commands his
fleet from the moon Khar Shian to attack. Suddenly Kressh
realises he's been tricked. Horak-Mul and Dor Gal-Ram are the
first to witness Sadow's victory as they are attacked and killed
by their own crew but Kressh manages to retreat.
On Khar Shian, Gav has figured out how to monitor the battle that
goes on in the distance and realises his sister has escaped. On
Khar Delba, Naga Sadow rallies up his armies with the news that
they will soon expand their empire and that "Jori Daragon
will lead us straight to the heart." As Jori continues her
hyperspace jump, a small homing device beacon beeps constantly.
